Grade 6

SCIENCE 6   (3 quarters)

The focus of the sixth grade curriculum is earth science. Topics are divided into units of study which will include: Earth’s Resources, Earth’s Internal Structure, Reshaping the Land, Oceanography, Weather, and Climate. Labs, activities, and projects supplement and reinforce concepts presented.

HEALTH 6   (1 quarter)

Health topics include: Substance abuse prevention, family life, self-esteem, protecting your health, and decision-making skills.

Grade 7

SCIENCE 7   (3 quarters)

The focus of the seventh grade curriculum is life science. Topics are divided into units of study which will include: Cells, Heredity, Evolution and Classification, Plants, Animals, and Ecology.   Labs, activities, and projects supplement and reinforce concepts presented.

HEALTH EDUCATION   (1 quarter)  

This course explores Human Biology and the body systems. Additional topics may include: Substance Abuse Prevention, Family Life, Self-esteem, and Decision Making Skills.

Grade 8

SCIENCE 8   (3 quarters)

The focus of the eighth grade curriculum is Physical Science. Topics are divided into units of study which will include: Matter; Motion and Forces; Work, Machines, and Energy; The Atom; Interactions of Matter; and Astronomy. Labs, activities, and projects supplement and reinforce concepts presented.

HEALTH EDUCATION   (1 quarter)

This course is designed to give students the knowledge, skills, and self-understanding to navigate the teen years in a healthy manner.  Areas of study include: enhancing self-esteem, decision-making, goal-setting, healthy values, one's developing sexuality, healthy relationships, nutrition, first aid, substance abuse, and handling feelings.
