It is my distinct pleasure to welcome you to Westborough Middle School, blue-and-gold home of the Wildcats. Our picturesque campus is located high atop a hill commanding a beautiful view of the San Francisco Bay Area. Both our staff and our community take great pride in our school and in its outstanding programs. Westborough students enjoy an academic life in the core content areas which focuses on building a solid foundation for future study by offering frequent, intense experiences in reading, writing, mathematics, and critical thinking. A broad elective program offers courses in such areas as art, music and band, home economics, careers, drama, and computer technology. Our full-time physical education staff rounds out our course offerings, stressing the importance of balance in the physical development of our students.
Westborough is blessed with an experienced and dedicated staff, each of whom seeks to develop the potential and talents of every student. Our teachers stay informed of current educational research and instructional strategies not only by attending inservice workshops and conferences, but also by furthering their own education by partaking in college- and university-level classes. All of this adds to the positive learning environment we provide for our students.
In addition to academic pursuits, Westborough students are encouraged to take part in an active and fulfilling extracurricular school life. A great percentage of our student body takes part in such activities as Student Government, Honor Society, Honor and Merit Rolls, and various school-based clubs. Westborough has long enjoyed a lively drama tradition, with performances given during the year. This year's performances will honor Westborough's rich multicultural heritage. The SSF Parks and Recreation Department offers a full-range program of after-school sports for all of our students. Finally, other student experiences, such as dances and various field trips, round our our extracurricular offerings. All of this seeks to infuse balance into the total Westborough experience.
