General Information

One of the highlights of Middle School is Exploratories and Electives. These are courses that meet for a quarter or a semester and present various areas of interest to students.

Students in grade 6 are placed either in the exploratory wheel, in Beginning/Intermediate Band, or in the Math or Language Arts Helps classes.  The exploratory wheel exposes students to four different elective classes throughout their 6th grade year.

Students in grades 7 and 8 are given program planning books at the end of the 6th and 7th grades.  These planning books provide a description of the various electives offered here at Westborough.  Students then fill out a card with their preferences.  Students may be placed in either an elective rotation, Beginning/Intermediate Band, Advanced Band, or the Math or Language Arts Helps classes.  8th graders may also work in the Publications elective to create the school yearbook or as library or office aides.

* Not all electives are offered each quarter, semester, or year.
