The way we dress does not only affect us, but affects the school learning environment. We have a dress code to make sure that the learning process is not disrupted and that all district policies for appropriate clothing and student safety are followed. Clothing which is extreme or controversial is not acceptable—as is anything which would distract other students from learning.
- Any kind of clothing, jewelry, hairstyle, or makeup which an administrator determines is interfering with the learning process in a substantial way is prohibited. It includes (but is not limited to) items that express: profanity, pornography, illegal behavior (drugs, gangs, alcohol, murder, pimping, prostitution), racial, religious, sexist, ethnic, or gender oriented slurs, self mutilation, death, or suicide.
- Please do not wear clothes that show the midriff (stomach), strapless clothing, low cut necklines, tank tops, fish net shirts, or sleeveless “T” shirts.
- Please do not wear un-hemmed cut-offs, short shorts, jogging shorts, bicycle shorts, extremely tight shorts, or mini-skirts.
- Bandanas, hoods, hats, or other types of head coverings are not allowed on campus. Only Westborough hats are acceptable.
- Clothing that identifies a student with non-school clubs, teams, or gangs are not allowed. This includes (but is not limited to): hanging belts, bandanas, suspenders off the shoulders, and gang related signs or initials on any clothing item or backpack.
- NO SAGGING! WE DO NOT WANT TO SEE YOUR UNDERWEAR.
- Shoes must be worn at all times.
- Glasses, other than prescription, shall not be worn inside school buildings.
- Perfumes, scents, and colognes which disrupt the educational process are prohibited. Many people are allergic to scents and colognes. We should not smell you coming down the hall or for 5 minutes after you leave a room.
- Pajamas are not appropriate to wear for school—do not wear pajama bottoms as pants. Inappropriately dressed students will be removed from class until a change of clothes is received from home.
CONFISCATED ITEMS OF CLOTHING WILL BE RETURNED TO PARENTS / GUARDIANS ONLY.
