The Breakfast Club is a service organization of Westborough Middle School dedicated to campus beautification efforts including, but not limited to, litter control and prevention. That’s right – it is a service organization. Our name is a misnomer – we’re not one of those just-for-the-fun-of-it clubs. We don’t meet in the mornings just to pig-out on doughnuts, bagels, cereal, and other breakfast foods. We generally meet twice a week, Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 8:00-8:15, to pick-up garbage from the school campus. Meetings start at 8:00 on the patio or, in case of inclement weather, in Room 72. Members will also be responsible for lunch duty twice a week – picking up garbage and cleaning up on the patio, in the MUR, and on the blacktop. Members are responsible for the following:
- Following all school rules and regulations
- Attending all meetings
- Bringing necessary supplies and/or materials – gloves, garbage bags, etc.
- Actively participating in all organization functions
- Following all instructions of the faculty advisor
Excessive absences or tardiness – attendance of less than 75%, three or more consecutive absences, or ten or more tardies – is grounds for dismissal from the Breakfast Club. Membership must be renewed every year. Students who actively participate may be eligible for a reward trip at the end of the year.
