UNEXCUSED ABSENCES/ TRUANCY/ EXCESSIVE ABSENCES

An unexcused absence will be considered truancy if there is no valid note.  Per the California Education Code, truancy is defined as: “…an absence of more than three days or tardies in excess of 30 minutes on each of more than three days in one school year.”  Also, students guilty of "cutting" school will be assigned Saturday School detention for each unexcused absence. Continued unexcused absences will result in a School Attendance Review Team Meeting (SART) and School Attendance Review Board (SARB) referral and possible court hearing.
